in honor of earth day i wanted to share something that’s been on my heart this past week. last week i was really struggling with the hurt of not being out of the country on a mission. i had been in such a good place the past 4 months in being content with being here, but last week i really felt that pain start to come back. i long so bad to be back in Nepal, to be back on those 48 hour travel days, to be back in those foreign cultures. i needed some peace and calm with the Lord. the place i find that most is on country drives and at my special place i go to be with God (secret because it’s special hehe). so i headed out there and i spent sometime to just sit in the grass. in the silence. the wind blowing through my hair and the sun shining on me with my toes in the dirt. as i sat there i picked this tiny, tiny flower and held it by the stem in my fingers. the breeze started to pick up and blow the flower. it was being forced to bend and twist in the wind but the root stayed completely firm and unshaken as it was being held by my fingers, which were pretty big compared to the tininess of the flower. as i watched this happen the Lord kind of just revealed to me this beauty behind the image. in this image i am the flower and my hands portray His hands. the crazy and scary winds of life or our struggles can push and pull us. it may seem outwardly like we are lost and alone but when you look further down and in the hidden underground you can see the root of our foundations in Christ. you can see God’s hands. holding us firm. holding us steady. no matter what happens the root is secure and unshaken because our great God is constantly taking hold of it. whether we see it or not He is always there, keeping the stem deeply rooted.
